Just back from Randy’s wedding in Dallas and thought I might have something worth saying.
I spent 3 days with Mom, Andrea, Rev. Rob and sister Sheri. We left Birmingham Friday afternoon and got back this afternoon around 2pm. We genuinely had a good time. We went to lend support to brother Randy, but I have to say we just enjoyed each other. We met up with Fogged Occurance while there which only added to the humor and the number of times you heard “what?”.
Finding your way around that part of Dallas may not be difficult after you have been there a couple of weeks, but for a weekend visitor, we went around the block for missed turns more than a couple of times. We should have beat Ric and Jacci to the restaurant by an hour or more. I think they were less than a minute behind us!
The wedding went off well. Pam had to fight off a bee in the middle of the ceremony but she need a distraction by then anyway.

Randy called tonight to see that we made it home ok and thank us for coming. He mentioned that Pam was surprised and pleased that so many of Randy’s family had come to the wedding. I thought back to when Randy called to tell us about the wedding, I don’t think any of us thought about it twice before saying “sure” and commencing to make plans to go. We didn’t think it odd or above and beyond. We thought of it as a family event and we should go.

Several of us in this little blog circle have made comment about our family being different and or particularly blessed. To this I add my amen. We are different and we are by any measure greatly blessed. We are a family of deep roots and connections. We are a family of deep faith. We are a family of deep commitment, to each other and to those we are connected to. That alone makes us different. Our recognition of the good in the lives we share makes us blessed beyond what most can think or imagine.

Here’s to Pam and Randy. May the journey be long and prosperous.
