what we don't know

When, how, why.
We had a bit of a scare around here today. Andrea was late for church this morning. I knew she wasn't in her seat when we started praise and worship but I didn't know why. She was on track when I left her.
She showed up about 20 minutes late but I couldn't find out why during church. She was very quiet during the service, like something was wrong but I couldn't tell what. At the end of the service I asked her but she tried to poo poo it but she did tell me that the right side of her face was numb but she felt ok otherwise. You could tell something was wrong with her lower face but she still wasn't saying anything.
Ever the optimist, my first thoughts ran to STROKE!and I told her to get in the car, we were going to the emergency room. By then I think she was getting scared too so she got in the car and we drove to B'ham to St. Vincent's. Sunday afternoon in the emergency room is always such a thrill. We got a room quickly (like five minutes!) and then waited about 45 minutes to see a doctor. In the meantime, they pulled blood, took an EKG, and set her up for an IV. The doc showed up, took five minutes to ask some questions and do a once over and declared the culpret to be Bell's Palsey. A scarey but ultimately curable nerve problem. Apparently a nerve that controls nerves across the face is short circuited and you loose the ability to blink, smile and wrinkle your forhead. She got a large dose of steroids and a dose pak and we went home. She is already blinking occasionally and feels much better. how do you make this longer?
